2011 Total Film UK Magazine

Comments: Media coverage of the FIRST AVENGER movie leaps across the pond to the United Kingdom for this film magazine. It's the usual photos and article in this All-American issue but, thankfully, they give us an original photo shoot of the very British Haley Atwell. And if that isn't enough to wet your chops, they poly bag the issue and include a mouse pad shaped like Cap's shield from the movie (see below).

LA Times Cap Magazine

Just to show you how big Comic-Con has gotten, the LA Times did a special magazine on the First Avenger movie and other super heroes. This was also included as a free giveaway at the Horton Plaza special screening.

Entertainment Weekly

We take a break from the San Diego Comic-Con Cosplay (plenty more to come!) and feature one of the earlier glimpses of Chris Evans as Captain America from ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY from November 2010. I think most, when they saw this, started to think that maybe Evans could pull it off. A great cover!

1997 Comic Book Marketplace Magazine #54

Comments: In the 1990s, while the internet was still young and people would still go to magazines for information, Wizard and Comic Book Marketplace were great resources for your comic book info. I use to love this magazine! The market reports were interesting but they would also focus on certain characters or subjects for one issue's theme. And, in December 1997's issue, Captain America got his due.


There are four articles on Cap in this one. One focuses on the history of his Golden Age. Another covers Cap Collectables, much like this website strives to do, with a small but nice photo gallery. The internet didn't really kill this magazine as did the departure of editor Gary Carter. Russ Cochran took over for the remaining issues but it just wasn't the same. Today, Tomorrows Publishing fills the void left with their magazines like Back Issue and Alter Ego.
