Comments: Volume 0 of the Forum series from Spain. Huh? Whah? A ZERO issue?? Yes, it seems that even though Volume 1 and 2 covered the TALES OF SUSPENSE run, they only covered the modern day tales and not the WWII adventures in the earliest issues. So those issues are in this volume along with a the original origin story from CAPTAIN AMERICA COMICS #1 (March 1941).

Comments: Volume 15 of the Forum series from Spain. Where are Volumes 4-14? Quite simply, I don't own them yet. But Volume 15 covers the Return of the King, Jack Kirby, with his classic Mad Bomb cover above. To be fair, most of this volume features the storyline BEFORE Jack returned in 1975 with the Frank Robbins/post NOMAD issues with the Falcon and the Red Skull (CAPTAIN AMERICA & THE FALCON #186-192) before the one Kirby issue with #193.

Comments: Volume 2 of this Spanish series by Forum. As mentioned in the Volume 1 post, these were like digest-sized Marvel Essentials in Spanish but with only about half the content like a Masterworks. This second volume takes us through the second half of Cap's 1960s TALES OF SUSPENSE run. Note the cover art above, which is probably taken from an interior panel. The covers are also reprinted in the back. A great black and white publication.

Comments: In 1999, Forum in Spain began publishing a series of black and white reprints of the Captain America stories beginning with the TALES OF SUSPENSE 1960s run. These are more of a digest size in dimensions but covers about the same stories as a Marvel Masterworks but without the color much like an Essential volume only on much nicer paper. These are really nice books, all in Spanish, of course. There is also a price on the back for the currency of Argentina, another Spanish-speaking market.

Comments: It is great to see Cap on some stationery products again. Solo, at least. He seems to always have to share with the other heroes but I don't think I've seen him on his own binder and folder set since Mead's version in the 1970s. This is just the folder above.

"Captain America" in Mexico

A funky little find and perhaps a lesson on copyrighted characters in other countries: FANTÁSTICO #18 from 1956 by Editora Sol. This is a reprint of FIGHTING AMERICAN, the Simon & Kirby Captain America & Bucky spoof, but in Mexico they just used the real name. I guess they weren't fooling anyone, even back then. Still, maybe they knew they could use the Cap name south of the border and get away with it.

Comments: 5 different designs were made, 2 with the curved top, and all used Cap art from the 1960s. I don't know if kids use lunch boxes anymore but these are great retro items for pencils, art supplies, or whatever.
