Comments: Back in the late 1970s, a gentleman named George Olshevsky began publishing Marvel Indexes that covered the details of Marvel comics issue by issue up to that point. Details were logged like the creators, character appearances, dates, etc. The Captain America version, I believe, came out in 1979 and had a stunning Steranko wrap around cover. For the longest time, in the pre-internet days, that was a Cap fan's best source for back issue information, particularly the Golden Age comics, unless, of course, you owned the original comics.
Years later, others were inspired to take that index baton and run with it. Working directly with Marvel this time, an updated version of the index was created. Although smaller, color cover images were used instead of black and white and more stats were included. To help sell it, the Cap information was added with, I believe, Thor and Avengers information and released as a maxi series of comic books.
Well, I don't have as much interest in Thor so wouldn't it be nice if that Cap information got its own separate volume in one book? AND HERE IT IS!! It's a thick one at about 416 pages and it WILL test your eye sight but it is a great reference to have.
