Cap in Australia in the 1950s
Some of the earliest Australian Captain America comics that I've been able to track down. And a first issue to boot. But look at that bad coloring job!!
I wish I owned this. It was for sale on eBay recently and I just could not justified the big bucks at this time despite this being the ONLY time I've ever seen this rare gem. So my apologies to the former owner and current new owner for pilfering these images from their ad. Whenever possible, I try to use my own images but, at some point, I'll be using more found images from the web.
Back to this issue, there is no date but I'll assume, as the seller did, that this was from the 1950s and reprints the Atlas issue CAPTAIN AMERICA COMICS #76 from May 1954. Interiors are in black and white. The quality is a bit less than the American version, lacking the glossy cover, but this issue is standard to other Australian Superman comics that I own.
The publisher is Transport Publishing. What little information I found on the web has them publishing other Australian comics during the 1950s but one site I found even didn't list any Cap books, giving you an idea how rare and incomplete information about these foreign books are.
