Cap in the UK: Mystic #55

Comments: I'm still uncovering and learning during my detective work researching Captain America comics in other countries. Cap and other Marvel titles were reprinted by a couple different companies in the 1960s before MARVEL UK took over in the 1970s. One of the companies to reprint American comics was publisher Alan Class. I always thought this book above was an Alan Class book, and maybe it still is, but the publisher listed is L. Miller and company. But the format (shorter, wider, thicker with multiple stories in black and white) sure fits the Alan Class mold.


Regardless, this copy of MYSTIC #55 features the classic reprint of AVENGERS #4. Although, obviously, as one can see, they either didn't know the character, have a color key, or were just sloppy laying down the color for Cap's arms and legs. You see this, unfortunately, often with comics overseas.
